Cabrera, our sweet neighbour

In 1991 the Archipelago of Cabrera, which also includes the islands of Conillera, Plana, Foradada and Na Pobre and the islets of Pla and Foradat (among others), was declared maritime-terrestrial national park by the Spanish Parliament because of its extraordinary landscape and environmental value. A medieval castle-fortification, a chapel and a monument to French prisoners were built on Cabrera. It is an island full of historic and poetic memories.

Nowadays, Cabrera and the surrounding islands are one of the main sites for visitors focusing on environmental and maritime tourism. Visitors will enjoy a rich birdlife, a beautiful sea bottom and a unique geography.

There are daily boat trips to the island of Cabrera from the port of La Colònia de Sant Jordi.

You can also visit the island by Menorcan “llaut” (traditional boat) in a more familiar and exclusive atmosphere. For further information visit a www.imperialyachting.ch

An authorization by the National Park Office in Palma (Tel.: 971 725010) is required to enter the park by private boat or by other independent means.
